1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Fold in the walnuts, if desired.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
