Eight medications that should not be taken due to their kidney damage

Anticonvulsants: Such as phenytoin and trimethadione

Chemotherapy drugs: Particularly interferons, pamidronate, cisplatin, carboplatin, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, quinine, mitomycin C, and bevacizumab, which can cause severe kidney damage.

Propylthiouracil: Medications used to treat thyroid problems.

Medications for heartburn: Omeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole, and esomeprazole.

Antiviral medications such as acyclovir for treating herpes, and indinavir and tefonovir for treating HIV.

Captopril: Medication for high blood pressure.

Medicines for bones and joints: Infliximab for the treatment of arthritis, and chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of malaria and systemic lupus erythematosus.
