Lightly brush the bread slices with butter – on the outside for a nice crispy finish. Spread the pesto on the inside.
Topping:
Place sliced mozzarella on two slices of bread, then the ham on top. If you like, add some grated Parmesan cheese.
Fold:
Cover with the other two slices of bread (pesto side facing in).
Grill or fry:
Fry in a hot pan over medium heat or in a contact grill for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown, until the cheese is nicely melted.
Serve:
Cut in half diagonally, garnish with fresh basil, and you’re done!
🍷 Tip:
Serve with a small arugula salad with balsamic vinegar or a glass of Italian white wine like Pinot Grigio.
