Quick and Easy Stovetop Bread Recipe

Activate the yeast
In a bowl, mix warm water with sugar and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes until lightly foamy.

Make the dough
Place flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the yeast-water mixture and oil. Knead well (by hand or with a dough hook) until a smooth, slightly sticky dough forms. If too sticky, add a little more flour.

Short rising time
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 20–30 minutes. It should have visibly increased in size.

Shaping & Baking
Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf on a floured surface. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cut a cross in the top with a sharp knife.

Baking in the Stove/Oven
Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30–35 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

🔁 Variations:

For multigrain bread: Replace 100–150g of the flour with spelt, rye, or whole-wheat flour.

Garnish with herbs or cheese.

For a crispy crust: Place a small bowl of water in the oven.
