Let’s be honest — the oven is one of those appliances we rely on daily… until it starts looking like a science experiment gone wrong.
Burnt-on cheese.
Spilled sauces.
Grease splatters.
Mystery stains from meals past.
Mine was no different.
No microwave in our house means everything goes in the oven — from reheating leftovers to roasting veggies to baking bread.
And after years of love (and heavy use), my oven looked more like a charcoal cave than a cooking space.
I used to reach for commercial oven cleaners — until I read the label:
“Ventilate area.”
“Wear gloves.”
“Do not inhale.”
Hard pass.
So I went searching for a natural, safe, and powerful alternative …
And found this homemade oven cleaner — made with ingredients already in my kitchen.
No fumes.
No toxins.
Just lemon, vinegar, dish soap, and water .
And let me tell you — it works better than the store-bought stuff.
Let’s explore how to make it — and why your oven will thank you.

🧴 How to Make & Use This Natural Oven Cleaner
What You’ll Need:
White vinegar
1 cup
Fresh lemon juice
½ cup
Dish soap (preferably blue Dawn)
¼ cup
Water
1¼ cups
Spray bottle
1 large (32 oz / 1 quart)
✅ Pro Tip: Use warm water to help dissolve grime faster.
Step 1: Mix the Solution
In a large bowl or measuring cup:
Combine all ingredients
Stir gently (don’t shake too hard — it will foam)
Pour into a clean spray bottle.
Label it clearly — because it smells delicious, but it’s not a drink!
Step 2: Apply Generously
Spray the solution all over the interior of your oven — including:
Walls
Floor
Racks
Inside of the door
Don’t forget corners and crevices — that’s where grime hides.
For extra-stubborn spots?
Spray, then sprinkle baking soda — it creates a fizzy reaction that lifts tough stains.
Step 3: Let It Sit
Close the oven door and let the solution work for 30–60 minutes .
The longer it sits, the better it performs — especially on old, baked-on messes.
You can even leave it overnight for a deep clean.
