The claim that nail fungus can be “permanently destroyed” with just a lemon sounds tempting β but here’s the honest answer:
π Fact or myth?
It’s more of a myth or a home remedy that has no scientifically proven cure for nail fungus. Although lemon juice has mild antibacterial and antifungal properties due to its acidity (citric acid, pH around 2), lemon alone isn’t enough to treat real nail fungus (onychomycosis).
π¦ Why not?
Nail fungus doesn’t just sit on the surface, but grows inside and under the nail. The acid in lemon can’t penetrate the stratum corneum of the nail deep enough to completely destroy the fungus.
