Today I Learned How to Properly Use the Detergent Drawer in a Washing Machine – No Wonder My Clothes Weren’t Getting Clean

Most detergent drawers have three sections:

Pre-wash compartment (usually labeled “I”)

Main wash compartment (labeled “II”)

Fabric softener compartment (marked with a flower or star symbol)

Each has a different purpose:

The pre-wash section is for longer cycles or heavily soiled clothes.

The main wash section is where your regular detergent goes.

The fabric softener section is for softener or color-protecting additives, which are released during the final rinse.

Important: Never go past the maximum fill lines marked inside each compartment. Overfilling can cause leaks or reduce washing performance.
