Tomato salad with onions – the simple classic

Prepare the tomatoes:
Wash the tomatoes, remove the stems, and cut into slices or large pieces.

Cut the onions:
Peel the onion and cut into thin rings or half rings. For a milder flavor, you can soak them briefly in cold water (about 5 minutes) and then drain.

To serve:
Place the tomatoes and onions in a bowl.

Prepare the dressing:
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and optionally sugar well.

To finish the salad:
Pour the dressing over the tomatoes and onions, mix gently, and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

To serve:
Sprinkle with freshly chopped herbs and serve.

💡 Tip:

For extra flavor, you can also finely chop some garlic or add a pinch of oregano.

Tastes especially good with fresh farmhouse bread or ciabatta.
