Pension increases: the 2025-2026 timetable you need to know

Every year, retirees eagerly await announcements regarding pension increases. The 2025 increase is already confirmed, but the outlook for 2026 remains uncertain. Should we fear a “blank year,” as former Prime Minister François Bayrou once envisioned before his government fell?

Since his appointment in September 2025, the new head of government, Sébastien Lecornu, has been trying to regain control of a strained budget. He has already abandoned some unpopular measures but remains tight-lipped on the issue of pensions. Seniors are therefore wondering: will their pensions actually be increased in 2026, or are they likely to be frozen?
November 2025: Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension increase
Starting November 1, 2025, nearly 14 million private-sector retirees will see their Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension increase. The increase follows the inflation rate excluding tobacco published by INSEE (the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), but with a 0.4 percentage point discount to preserve the financial balance of the pension scheme. With inflation estimated at around 1%, the increase should be between 0.6% and 0.8%.

In practical terms, a supplementary pension of €1,300 per month will gain approximately €8 to €10 more, or between €95 and €125 per year. The first increased payment will be made on November 3, 2025. This increase is in addition to the one already applied in January 2025 to basic pensions (+2.2%).
