π Ingredients (for about 4 servings)
π For the base:
8 slices of Texas toast (garlic butter toast, frozen or fresh)
1 tbsp butter (optional if using fresh toast)
A pinch of fresh garlic (optional if not using store-bought garlic toast)

500g ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, finely diced (optional)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp tomato paste
120ml ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard (yellow or hot – to taste)
1/2 tsp paprika (smoked for more depth)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: a pinch of brown sugar
π§ For the topping:
150-200g shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend with Mozzarella)
π©βπ³ Preparation
1. Prepare the ground meat mixture:
Heat a little oil in a pan.
Fry onions and bell peppers (if using) until translucent.
Add the ground meat and garlic and fry until crumbly.
Stir in the tomato paste and toast briefly (for more flavor).
Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, paprika, and sugar, if desired.
Mix everything well and simmer over low heat for about 5β10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
2. Prepare the Texas toast:
Preheat oven to 220Β°C (top/bottom heat) or 200Β°C (fan oven).
Place the slices of toast on a baking sheet and toast according to the package instructions until crispy on both sides (usually 5β7 minutes).
